Benq Joybook Lite T131 laptop

Laptop randomly froze and had to take off battery to get it to turn off?
I just bought the new Benq Joybook Lite T131 laptop within this month, and while I was browsing the internet using Mozilla Firefox, the laptop suddenly froze. Holding down the on/off button did not turn it off however long I held it down, and my only solution was to take off the battery. After I put the battery back in and turned on the laptop, it is working fine. What could have been the problem?? I was thinking that it might have been heat issues but I was in a very well-ventilated area??!! help!! Is it a problem with the laptop itself??

Depends.. were you running a whole load of programs? It's normal to freeze when you have a lot of things running. Trust me. It's nothing too strange for that to happen. Even if you did have to take out the battery it's probably a slight problem. If you still aren't satisfied, call up Benq tech support and ask them.

The most likely cause is a bloated registry which has become the home for all kinds of useless bits and pieces of data. Whenever any change is made to the system settings or a program is installed or uninstalled, a new entry is generated in the registry. The operating system while running your computer has to pick its way through all this excess material. There is a multitude of useless bits and pieces to be removed.Parts of uninstalled programs, parts of incompletely installed programs, dead drivers and many other things. clean your registry and remove all the useless data fragments and no longer needed information to fix the freeze error! I should like to commend Registry Easy http://make-a-computer-run-better.com to you ! You can try ! Good luck!

if your laptop has a pcmcia port, go find a pcmcia VIA sata card. you will need your original samsung dvd key since your machine will only work with your old drive's dvd key. reflash your new BenQ drive with that old dvd key using a firmware for samsung drive.

You should be able to order a replacement recovery cd for your laptop from the supplier, try their website Hope this helps Rob www.robinclapworthy.com

Just backup important files to you. Music, pictures ect. ect. Then do a system recovery. You only need to put pictures and other important files into a new folder you have created and burn them onto a DVD-R and music also but on a different DVD-R. If you have vista, just type in recovery manager in the search bar in the start menu. XP, this explains it for you. http://commandwindows.com/recovery.htm

If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you will need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer. If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to repair, and then press and hold F8. On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair your computer, and then press ENTER. (If Repair your computer is not listed as an option, then your computer does not include Startup Repair as a preinstalled recovery option.) Select a keyboard layout, and then click Next. Select a user name and enter the password, and then click OK. On the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair. Startup Repair might prompt you to make choices as it tries to fix the problem and, if necessary, it might restart your computer as it makes repairs. Be sure to keep your Windows installation disc in a safe place. If your computer came with Windows preinstalled and you do not have an installation disc, check the information that came with your computer to learn about recovery options Cheers
